SPOTLIGHT ON ART SANCTUARY
By Zikeya Douglas
Tyler School of Art BA Candidate
July 2011
During my interview with Tarana Burke, who is the managing director for Art Sanctuary, an organization that uses black art to reach out to the community, I was able to get a better understanding of what the program does. Art Sanctuary, which was founded in North Philadelphia, uses inspiration from the inner city and encourages all forms of artists, musician and writers to help share their practice through performances and other educational programs.
